Houston Arts Alliance, formed in 2006 through the merger of the Cultural Arts Council of Houston/Harris County (CACHH), the Municipal Art Commission, and the Civic Art Committee, administers the City of Houston’s Civic Art Program, and is committed to guiding the city to invest wisely in civic art commissions that invigorate public life.
HAA is responsible for overseeing the acquisition and conservation of the growing City of Houston civic art collection which contains over 400 pieces by regionally and nationally acclaimed artists, including John Biggers, Mel Chin, Luis Jimenez, Henry Moore, and Claus Oldenburg.
As Houston’s regional arts agency, HAA also administers a grants program for arts and organizations, manages an arts incubator, provides technical assistance, and produces a guide to arts and culture on www.artshound.com featuring a calendar of events, classes and workshops, as well as jobs and auditions.
